Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David had returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag...
And it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said to him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, To Hebron...
Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul became weaker and weaker...
And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled...
Then came all the tribes of Israel to David to Hebron, and spoke, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh...
Again, David assembled all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand...
And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest around from all his enemies...
And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines...
And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan's sake...
And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead...
And it came to pass, after the year had expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and destroyed Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem...
And the LORD sent Nathan to David. And he came to him, and said to him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor...
And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her...
Now Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king's heart was towards Absalom...
And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him...
And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and a hundred bunches of raisins, and a hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine...
Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night...
And David numbered the people that were with him, and set over them captains of thousands and captains of hundreds...
And it was told to Joab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom...
And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel...
Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites...
And David spoke to the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul...
Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said...
And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go number Israel and Judah...
