Homer — heap, the largest of dry measures, containing about 8 bushels or 1 quarter English = 10 ephahs (Lev. 27:16; Num. 11:32) = a COR. (See OMER »T0002784.) "Half a homer," a grain measure mentioned only in Hos. 3:2. Shomer — watchman. (1.) The mother of Jehozabad, who murdered Joash (2 Kings 12:21); called also Shimrith, a Moabitess (2 Chr. 24:26). (2.) A man of Asher (1 Chr. 7:32); called also Shamer (34).
